1. : a strong crystalline acid H2NSO3H made usually by reaction of sulfuric acid, sulfur trioxide, and urea and used chiefly as a weed killer, in cleaning metals, and in the form of salts as a flameproofing or softening agent for paper and textiles : the half amide of sulfuric acid
2. : any of a group of organic derivatives RNHSO3H or R2NSO3H of sulfamic acid that are stable if the R represents alkyl but unstable if one R is aryl or acyl
